A man is in jail on multiple charges after he allegedly drove away from a traffic stop while a police officer was holding on to his vehicle.
Michael B. Macalma, 30, Kapaau, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, attempted assault of a police officer, reckless endangering, resisting an order to stop, meth trafficking, illegal place to keep ammunition, and two counts of drug paraphernalia. That slate of arrests came on Wednesday.
The incident began as a traffic stop Wednesday on Hawi Road, police said.
He took off and was finally stopped on Kauhukuu Transfer Station Road.
