Plenty of Kona stores open earlier than Friday for shopping tradition

KAILUA-KONA — There’s not much Friday left to it.

Before Thanksgiving dinner is pau and the leftovers are stored, shopping for the holiday season is in full force.

Plenty of Kona stores are opening today to offer Black Friday deals for shoppers looking to get a jump start on Christmas. From TVs to kitchenware to the latest in fashion and furniture, here’s a look at some of the store hours and offerings. For a full list, look for the ads inside today’s paper.

• Target is open continuously from 6 tonight to 11 p.m. Friday. One deal is a Westinghouse 55-inch LED TV for $249.99. Customers standing in line will receive a ticket for the item until quantities are gone, so come early if you want the deal.

• Walmart, meanwhile, will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight today with specials starting at 6 p.m. Big screen TVs are on sale, including a 50-inch HDTV for $269.

• Ace Hardware’s sale actually started Wednesday and runs five days. Special hours today are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Look for deals on Christmas decorations such as $4.99 for a string of 300 mini lights or 50 LED lights. Friday only, receive 50 percent off any one regular-priced item under $30.

• Home Depot is closed today but open Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Many power tools from top manufacturers are on sale for $99.

• Lowe’s is closed today but is open Friday 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Up to 40 percent off is offered for select major appliances such as a Maytag 4.5 cubic foot washer for $699.

• Macy’s is open from 6 tonight to 10 p.m. Friday. Deals include women’s boots for $19.99, 750-thread count queen or king sheet set for $29.99 and specials in all departments.

• Office Max is open from 6 to 9 tonight with deals on electronics, tablets, computers and even installation including an Android tablet for $59.99, Toshiba Satellite 14-inch Laptop for $144.99 and up to 70 percent off advertised items.
