Police and state Sherifffs are searching for a 29-year-old man who failed to return from a day pass to the Hale Nani Reintegration Center in Panaewa.

Police and state Sherifffs are searching for a 29-year-old man who failed to return from a day pass to the Hale Nani Reintegration Center in Panaewa.

Scottie Yanagawa left the facility Thursday morning and was scheduled to return at 2 p.m. State Sheriffs and the Hawaii Police Department have been notified.

Yanagawa is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Yanagawa is serving time for theft and burglary. His next parole hearing is scheduled for May 2016. He faces an additional escape charge when found.

Yanagawa is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
