Auntie’s Angels seeks food donations for seniors
Auntie’s Angels will hold its monthly Soup Kitchen ‘n Pantry on Saturday. The charity is asking for donations of fresh fruit and vegetables, paper products and personal hygiene items.
The nonprofit is also organizing the third annual Celebrate Seniors Christmas Luncheon and needs volunteers and door prizes.

Greenwell garden plans cleanup day
The community is invited to Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday to help with a garden cleanup. Ice water, rakes, hoes, picks and gloves will be supplied. Volunteers should bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a hat and a water container. After the morning of community service, a tour of the garden is planned.
The garden is Bishop Museum’s native plant arboretum landscaped with the native plants and farm crops of Kona circa 1700. Info: 323-3318, agg@bishopmuseum.org.
History of quilting revealed
Viv Smith, local quilter and pattern designer, will present a glimpse into the history of quilting at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. Emphasis will be placed on America, where the nation’s history can be seen in the history of its quilts. Handouts will be available. Following the program is a trunk show of dozens of quilts showcasing both old and modern, patchwork, strip piecing, paper piecing, applique, embroidery, and hand and machine quilts.

SKEA fundraiser features wine, art
Da Kine Wine, a fundraiser for the Society for Kona’s Education and Art, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the SKEA site in Honaunau.
John Keawe, Grammy and Na Hoku HanoHano award winning slack key guitarist, will perform. This event will also feature fine wines, heavy pupu, coffee, desserts, live and silent auctions and an art exhibit.

AdvoCats meeting planned
AdvoCats will be holding its general meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kona Vistas community center on Pualani Street off of Lako Street. AdvoCats is a County endorsed nonprofit trap-neuter-return organization, committed to solving the homeless cat problem in a humane way.
Upcoming clinics in Kona and Ocean View are planed. Those who have cats that need to be trapped and spayed or neutered and returned, contact: 327-3724, advocatshawaii.org. Volunteers for the Dec. 12 Christmas parade and stroll are needed. Also, donations of ink cartridges for recycling are accpeted.
