Islamic State has released a video threatening attacks in Russia “very soon,” the SITE jihadist monitoring group said.
The Al-Hayat Media Center, the foreign language media arm of Islamic State, released a video in Russian containing threats of attacks in Russia and featuring scenes of beheading and gunshot executions, SITE said on its website Thursday.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday that a terrorist act could have been responsible for bringing down a Russian aircraft in Egypt, killing all 224 people on board. An Islamic State affiliate in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula has claimed it blew up the aircraft after it left the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Oct. 31 bound for St. Petersburg, in retaliation for Russia’s bombing campaign in Syria.
Russian special services will study the video, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters during a conference call on Thursday, adding that he couldn’t confirm its authenticity.
