The earthquake occurred at 10:21 a.m. about 5.6 miles northwest of Kaena Point and 8.4 miles south-southeast of the Kilauea Volcano summit, scientists said. It had a registered depth of 5.3 miles.

More than a dozen people reported feeling the earthquake, including one person in Haiku, Maui, according to the USGS.

No advisory was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center for either earthquake.
