Donkey Mill Art Center is seeking entries for next year’s Wood/Ink/Fiber — An Exhibition of Woodblock Printing from the Hawaiian Islands show.

The Holualoa Foundation for Art and Culture, whose home is the Donkey Mill Art Center, recently received $3,000 from the Atherton Family Foundation to support the show, which will run May 6 through July 9, 2016. The exhibition, the first juried show of its kind under the guidance of Art Director/Curator Hiroki Morinoue, will be held at the Donkey Mill Art Center.

The work of 30 artists working in woodblock printmaking techniques in both Western style and Japanese moku hanga will be featured. Entry will be open to artists throughout Hawaii. Jury selections will be announced March 23, 2016.

The Atherton grant will support many of the activities surrounding the exhibition such as demonstrations by internationally recognized artists, workshops in the moku hanga techniques, youth programs and a full-color exhibition catalog.

The Atherton Family Foundation is one of the largest endowed grant-making private resources in Hawaii devoted exclusively to the support of charitable activities. It perpetuates the philanthropic commitment of Juliette M. Atherton and Frank C. Atherton, and of the family who have followed them.

Donkey Mill Art Center, a nonprofit established in 1995, brings unique lifelong learning experiences to people of all ages by providing much-needed arts education in local public schools.
