Each year on Halloween, Hawaiian Ocean View Estates volunteers hold a drug-free and alcohol-free event called Trunk or Treat for children in the community.

Attendees passed out candy to about 100 children from the trunks of their cars in an enclosed, safe area at the Oceanview swap meet lot. Vendors provided food for purchase.

Community members came together to organize and advertise the event and donate prizes and bags to be filled with candy. The secret costume contest had four age groups and two winners per group. Prizes included a boogie board, children’s basketball hoop and backpacks with school supplies in them.
