Claudia Keanaaina

Claudia Jean Keanaaina, 89, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 23, 2015, at her residence. Born Oct. 13, 1926, in Black Creek, N.Y., she was a retired bookkeeper for Darrell Robison, McDonald’s Restaurants in Kona-Kona and for John Burn and a charter member of the Palo Alto and Kona American Business Women’s Association.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at The Church of Latter-day Saints, outside pavilion in Kailua-Kona. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Clay (Maria) Brand of San Jose, Calif., Clark Brand of Kailua-Kona; stepsons, Sam Keanaaina of Kona, Glen Keanaaina of Captain Cook, Jack Keanaaina of Kailua-Kona, Clyde (Veronica) Keanaaina of Chugiak, Alaska; stepdaughters, Sweetheart Keanaaina and Sandra Matsumoto-Keanaaina, both of Kailua-Kona, Carol Ann Kala of Keauhou Mauka, Tammy (Stephen) Jones of Naknek, Alaska; two grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose Perry

Rose Perry, 92, of Hilo died Oct. 20, 2015, at Pohai Malama Hospice Facility in Hilo. Born Dec. 23, 1922, in Papaikou, she was a retired seamstress for the former E.N. Holmes Store in Hilo and member of the Hilo Grandmothers Club, Native Sons and Daughters of Hawaii and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Nov. 6 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass . Burial follows at Mauna Kea Memorial Park, Kaiei Homestead Road, Papaikou. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by daughter, Paulette Poulin of Alaska; sons, Leslie (Jane) Perry of Orchidland, Peter (Celeste) Perry of Hawaiian Paradise Park; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Henry Paka Leong, 78, of Hilo died Oct. 25, 2015, at home. Born Oct. 5, 1937, in Hilo, he was a retired mason for Isemoto Contracting Co., apprentice teacher for Hawaii Community College, taro farmer, Navy veteran and member of New Hope-Hilo. Visitation will be held from

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo, for a 7 p.m. service. Friends again may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 9 at the mortuary for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Mauna Kea Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Leong of Hilo; sons, Paul Leong and Alan Leong, both of Hilo; brothers, Shepherd (Tita) Lainaholo of Hilo, Robert (Dorothy) Leong of Honolulu; sister, Lily Pa of Hilo; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
