State House Rep. Nicole Lowen, D-Kona, will host a guest panel and public forum for West Hawaii residents to learn more about invasive species issues that are affecting homes, agriculture and native forests on Hawaii Island.
Topics will include fire ants, coqui frogs, coffee berry borer beetle, ohia wilt, and other invasive species and plant pest issues. The discussion will be held Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Hawaii Civic Center’s Council Chambers.
A panel of experts will include representatives from the state Department of Agriculture, the Invasive Species Council, the Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species, and the University of Hawaii. Panelists will each give a brief presentation, followed by an opportunity for moderated questions from the audience.
