UH-Hilo and Cal State Monterey Bay finished tied for the top spot and St. Martin’s Jennifer Liedes stayed in front to capture medallist honors at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.
The Vulcans staked claim to the team title for the first time since 2006, though they could have used a better round from Kristen Sawada to win it outright. The senior had shot five consecutive rounds in the 70s before slumping to a 17-over 87 that left her at in sixth place at 27-over.
Andi Igawa (80) led UH-Hilo, tying for third at 24-over.
The Vulcans and Cal State Monterey Bay each shot 55-over 335 to finish at 987, holding off St. Martin’s by a shot.
Liedes (77) carded a 225 to finish four shots clear of Concordia’s Lynsie Furuya.
Also for UH-Hilo, Shantel Antonio (77-85-86) and Mariah Paiste (81-85-82) were tied for 12th place at 38-over. Alison Tengan (89-86-88) tied for 25th at 263, and playing unattached individual, Kimberly Katayama was 32nd in the 33-player at 286 (97-89-100).

Alejandro Patino’s team-leading third goal of the season helped the UH-Hilo men open a road trip with a 1-1 draw against Point Loma in San Diego, Calif.
The Vulcans (4-9-1, 3-5-1 Pacific West Conference) are unbeaten in their past four matches.
In the 21st minute, Patino slipped a shot in after collecting a rebound. Nico Tagaloa tied it for Point Loma (7-5-2, 6-3-1) in the 33rd minute.
Honokaa graduate Cassidy Dixon made two saves for the Vulcans.
The UH-Hilo women lost for the fifth time in six matches, falling 1-0 to the Sea Lions.
Waiakea graduate made eight saves for the Vulcans (4-6-3, 3-6-0), who were outshot 25-1 and didn’t put a shot on frame.
Easton Kawawaki scored in the eight minute for Point Loma (11-4-0, 8-2-0).
