Haunted Happenings: Your guide to Halloween events in West Hawaii
A pirate-themed haunted house will come to life when darkness falls Halloween night (Oct. 31) in Kailua-Kona.
For 14 years, Sea View Circle resident Timothy Ewing has rendered his front yard into a ghostly grassland for Halloween. While he does not do “blood or gore,” the yard at 77-6518 Sea View Circle offers up an array of scares and frights, Ewing said.
Admission is free, but Ewing is asking people to bring canned and nonperishable food to be donated to The Food Basket for its West Hawaii food pantries. Each of the past few years, Ewing said he has collected between 50 and 75 pounds of goods to help hungry families on the Big Island.
Ewing is still looking for volunteer “scarers” to help with the haunt. For more information, send Ewing an email to time2dive@hawaii.rr.com.

Parental discretion is advised.
