Jeffrey Fausto Macaysa, 54, of Mountain View died Sept. 25, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 14, 1961, in Hilo, he was an employee of The Arc of Hilo and member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View and Special Olympics East Hawaii.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by mother, Evangeline (Robert Keaweopala) Macaysa of Mountain View; sisters, Paulene Macaysa of Nanawale, Amanda (Byron) Ayoso of Kohala, Christine (David) Peterson of Portland, Ore.; brother, Fernando (Herminia) Macaysa of San Diego; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert Bethea
Robert Emmett “Bob” Bethea, 85, of Keaau died Sept. 18, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Augusta, Ga., he was a retired attorney, past president of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, founding member of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce, first non-Japanese president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, member of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, founding member of the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board; member of the Big Island Business Council and an Army Veteran.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Private urn committal service will be at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by sons, William Bethea of Keaau, James (Nathalie) Bethea of Florida, Robert Bethea of Puna; daughter, Julie Bethea of Washington; sister, Patricia Bell of Georgia; stepdaughters, Joelle Burgess of Hilo, Sarah Huffman of Florida; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rudy Tabiolo
Rudy James Tabiolo, 69, of Hilo died Sept. 20, 2015. He was born in Kohala.

John Scovel
John Martin Scovel, 72, of Hilo died Sept. 14, 2015, at his residence. Born in San Diego, he was a commercial fisherman, heavy equipment operator, security guard, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an Air Force veteran.
Committal services will take place at noon Oct. 9 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Paul (Molly) Scovel of Winter Garden, Fla., John (Phoebe) Scovel of Honokaa; daughter, Lara (Jeremy) Hook of Hawi; brothers, Wayne (Kathy) Blevins of Apple Valley, Calif., William Blevins of Barstow, Calif., Monte Blevins of Olympia, Wash.; sister, Janice (Bob) Miller of Apple Valley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; one aunt; one uncle.

Robert Cooley
Robert Jonathan “Jon” Cooley, 48, of Hilo died Sept. 17, 2015. Born in Honolulu, he worked for Dorvin Leis as a journeyman pipe fitter with the Local 675.

Joseph Leong
Joseph Werner “Coconut Joe” Leong, 66, of Hilo died Aug. 13, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 21, 1948, in Honolulu, he was a professional artisan, Vietnam War Army veteran, of the101st Airborne Division and citizen of Ko Hawaii Pae Aina.

Sean Kevin Lyons, 57, of Hilo died Sept. 12, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 2, 1957, in Waipahu, Oahu, he was an Amerigas “All Star” delivery representative, a Hope Services of Hawaii shelter specialist and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward.

John Campbell
John Neil Campbell, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 10, 2015. Born Jan. 2, 1951, in Honolulu, he was a member of the Longboard Association, a retired lineman for Hawaiian Telephone Co. and an Army veteran.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 11 at Kahaluu Beach Park for a 10 a.m. service. Lunch follows. Friends may also call at 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at Mililani Mortuary in Honolulu for a 6 p.m. service. Dinner follows. Spreading of ashes will be at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at Ala Moana beach park (concessions) with military honors upon private burial at Punchbowl National Cemetery. Lei are welcome.

Carl Obasa
Carl Kazuo Obasa, 82, of Kurtistown died Sept. 2, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Hilo, he was a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, Korean War Army veteran and member of Kurtistown Jodo Mission and Kurtistown Young Men’s Association.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by brother, Yoshio (Marcia) Obasa of Kurtistown; sisters, Sueko Saito of Honolulu, Sumie Yamanishi of Japan, Sue Kojima, Yoshie (Abel) Wakida and Masue (James) Yogi, both of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Segawa
Richard Hideo Segawa, 89, of Hilo died Sept. 14, 2015, at Straub Clinic and Hospital in Honolulu. Born May 16, 1926, in Hilo, he was a retired first sergeant in the Hawaii Army National Guard.
