Nedra Murray

Nedra Elberta Murray, 92, of Volcano died Sept. 28, 2015, at home. Born in El Dorado Springs, Colo., she was a telephone operator, hotel cashier, Navy communications and military exchange employee and a homemaker.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 3 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for graveside committal services. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to a charity of choice or to the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by sons, John (Carla) Murray of New Mexico, Michael (Jeannie) Murray of Oklahoma; daughters, Marlene Watanabe of Maui, Michele (Ken Harris) Murray of Colorado; sister, Dorothy Felt of Colorado; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Hatsuko Nubla

Hatsuko Nubla, 89, of Hilo died Sept. 25, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Okinawa, Japan, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sisters, Setsuko Hoi of Sacramento, Calif., Tomiko Chinen of Okinawa; brother, Hideji Chinen of Okinawa.

Shinsuke Shimabukuro

Shinsuke “Shima” Shimabukuro, 96, of Mountain View died Sept. 1, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born July 17, 1919, in Pahoa, he was a self-employed anthurium farmer, part-time custodian for Waiakea Intermediate School, also had worked for the former Standard Meat Market and Hutchinson Sugar Co., a World War II Army veteran and member of 100th Infantry Battalion HQ Co. and F Co. and Hui Okinawa.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Akiko Shimabukuro of Mountain View; sons, Rodney (Susan) Shimabukuro of Pearl City, Oahu, Burt Shimabukuro of Mountain View; daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Niimi of Kurtistown, Lynn (George) Matsuda and Susan (Paul) Hangai, both of Mililani, Oahu; half-sister, Eleanor (Henry) Evangelista of Pahoa; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
