A man featured in Wednesday’s West Hawaii Today and on its website was arrested that same day.
Tevita Afu, 25, of Holualoa, was arrested at 4:20 a.m. at an unspecified location, police said.
He was charged with violating probation and officers continued their investigations.
He was under suspicion of theft of a backpack on Kuakini Highway in July and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle for allegedly stealing a mo-ped from a home on Kahakai Road on Aug. 23, police said.
Afu appeared in court on the probation violation charge. When he returned to the Kona cellblock he was arrested on the backpack theft charge and a different mo-ped theft from Walua Road on July 8.
The Aug. 23 theft remains under investigation.
