The death of the man found floating in Hilo Bay was not the result of foul play, police said.

A man was found floating face down at 8 p.m. Sept. 24, about 15 feet from the shore at the 100 block of Banyan Drive.

The autopsy on Tuesday showed he died from asphyxia due to drowning. Detectives are trying to confirm his identity so they can notify his family.
