Police are investigating a Tuesday morning robbery in downtown Hilo.
Officers were called at 6:02 a.m. to the 200 block of Kamehameha Avenue. A woman told officers “she had been sleeping in the doorway of a business when a man tugged on her purse. During a struggle, he kicked her and then fled on foot with the purse,” the release said.
The suspect is described as a “local” male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing dark shorts and a black jacket.
He was last seen with the woman’s black purse near the intersection of Kamahameha Avenue and Haili Street.
Police ask anyone with information about his identity or any other information about this case to call the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
