Joseph “Charlie” “Rosey” Santos, 64, of Papaaloa died Sept. 13, 2015, at home. Born in Honokaa, he was a retired truck driver with the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and D&D Trucking, member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe and a Navy veteran.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe for a 7 p.m. Mass. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Oct. 2 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo for graveside committal services. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by daughters, Donna (Frank III) Degele of Mountain View, Melvina Santos of Laupahoehoe; sister, Barbara (Eugene) Valencia of Laupahoehoe; stepmother, Bernice Santos of Honokaa; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Faith Furtado
Faith Leimomi “Lei” Furtado, 62, of Hilo died Aug. 13, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Feb. 8, 1953, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and member of Thy Word Ministries in Hilo and Hui Malama Ola Na Iwi Cancer Support Group.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct.3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughters, Michelle Duarte, Rochelle (Gregory) Wagner, Earllyn (Renfred) Jardine and Allyson (Kapena Sodetani) Nakooka, all of Hilo, Nohea (Frederic) Williams of Korea, Shaena (Colson) Kaahanui of Honolulu,; sons, Don (June) Nakooka and Jason (Raynae Evangelista) Furtado, both of Keaau, Jeffrey (Amber-Jean Silva) Furtado of Hilo, Dwight Nakooka Jr. of Maui; sisters, Julie Makekau of Maui, Sheila Bright of Hilo; brother, Dana (Helen) Bolton of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, stepsons and stepdaughters.

Ross Oue
Ross Akiyoshi Oue, 55, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 18, 2015, at his family’s residence. Born Aug. 11, 1960, in Kealakekua, he was a self-employed certified public accountant, treasurer for Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Hawaii Island Humane Society, Japanese Civic Association and the Kona Community Hospital, finance committee chairman for Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union, board member of Hawaii Public Housing, member of the selective draft board, Kanaueue Kumiai, representative for Kona and Kauai Hawaii Association of Public Accountants, Teacher’s and Wednesdays Bowling Leagues and played with “The Braddas” softball league.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by wife, Laurie Oue of Honolulu; mother, Lynda Oue of Kailua, Oahu; daughter, Alyssa Oue of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Jason Oue of Kealakekua, Vince (Diane) Oue of Honolulu; several aunts and uncles; one nephew; numerous cousins.

Wilferd Daniels
Wilferd W. Daniels, 94, of Keaau died Sept. 15, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 10, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla., he was a retired carpenter and a World War II Army Air Force veteran.
Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by daughters, Jackie (Richard) Harrison and Melody (Scott) Blankinship, both of California; son, David (Karen) Daniels of Keaau; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Masako Motobu
Masako Motobu, 98, of Hakalau died Sept. 7, 2015, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Makaweli, Kauai, she was a retired sugar cane planting crew member for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co. and member of Hakalau Jodo Mission, Wailea Kumiai and Hui Okinawa.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or no monetary gifts.
She is survived by sons, George (Hiroko) Motobu of Keaau, Raymond Motobu of Kwajalein; daughter, Evelyn (Clifton) Lariosa of Honolulu; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Alois Strand III
Alois “Al” Joseph James Strand III, 51, of Milolii died Aug. 15, 2015, at his residence. Born Jan. 12, 1964, in Milwaukee, he was a retired business owner of Las Vegas Party Tents, member of Las Vegas Hospitality Association, Convention Service Association of Las Vegas, International Special Events Society, National Association for Catering and Events, Wedding Professionals of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Wedding Network, Vegas Wedding Guild and Lambda Las Vegas.
Private service were held.
He is survived by life partner, Mark Wothe of Milolii; brothers, Frank (Kathy) Strand of Niagara, Wis., Tony (Dianna) Strand of Las Vegas; one niece; one nephew.

Herbert Ludricks
Herbert “Herb” Ernest Ludricks, 73, of Pahoa died Sept. 11, 2015, at his residence. Born Feb. 17, 1942, in Concord, Calif., he was a Teamster driver and member of the Teamsters Union Local 315.

Beverly Jeanne Carlton, 79, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 15, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 2, 1936, in San Francisco, she was a retired teacher and real estate agent.
