A high surf advisory remains posted for east- and southeast-facing shores of the Big Island, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
Strong trade winds will continue to produce the rough surf along the Big Island’s northern, eastern and southern coasts through 6 p.m. Monday. Wave heights of 5 to 8 feet are expected.
The service categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate,” cautioning of strong breaking waves, shore break and strong long shore and rip currents that can make swimming dangerous.
