An extended furlough inmate who failed to return for a check-in more than a month ago was taken into custody Thursday.
Race Bolner, 23, was supposed to check in on Aug. 6 in Kona. Inmates in the program live and work in the community, but must check in at various times.
Bolner was arrested Thursday afternoon by Hawaii Police Department officers in Kona. He will be returned to Hawaii Community Correctional Center, the state Department of Public Safety said.
Bolner was serving time for theft, forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card. The department said he will be charged with second-degree escape for the failure to check-in.
