Meanwhile in the Eastern Pacific, an area spanning east from 140 degrees west longitude to North America, forecasters are monitoring an area of disturbed weather several hundred miles south of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Development of the low pressure area, which featured showers and thunderstorms Monday, is expected to be limited as the system moves northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Forecasters gave it a 30 percent chance of forming into a tropical cyclone within five days.
Elsewhere in the Eastern Pacific, no tropical cyclones are forecast to develop during the coming five days, according to forecasters.
The Central and Eastern Pacific hurricane seasons continue through Nov. 30.
