A Puna man indicted in connection with the murder of his mother has been arrested and charged, the Hawaii Police Department reported Friday.

A Hilo grand jury on Wednesday indicted 40-year-old Sean Alan Rutledge for the Aug. 25 slaying of his 63-year-old mother outside her lower Puna home. The woman’s body was discovered with suspicious injuries outside the Kapoho Kai Drive home.

Police arrested the Pahoa man at 3:05 p.m. Friday and charged with second-degree murder for the death of his mother, Nadean Rutledge, also of Pahoa.

Sean Alan Rutledge remains in police custody without bail pending a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
