A high surf advisory remains posted for east- and south-facing shores of the Big Island through Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Swells from the south and east will continue to bring advisory-level surf through 6 p.m. Tuesday, forecasters said. Wave heights of 6 to 9 feet are expected.
Forecasters categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate,” adding that the public should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong currents that can make swimming dangerous.
