Marian Evans

Marian Leslie Evans, 52, of Keaau died Aug. 8, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Maui, she owned and operated Akamai Answering Service.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 23 at Leleiwi Beach Park in Keaukaha.

She is survived by mother, Elaine Eckhart of Auburn, Wash.; son, Christopher Craig of Mountain View; sisters, Cynthia Evans of Honolulu, Grace Evans of Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Theodore Ginn

Theodore “Teddy” Ginn, 82, of Ocean View and formerly of Kona died Aug. 3, 2015. Born in Detroit, he was a retired musician and an Air Force veteran.

Friends may call at noon Aug. 23 at Keoua Canoe Club at City of Refuge Puuhonua o Honaunau. There will be music and potluck. Friends may also call at 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.

He is survived by daughters, Terria (James) Blanton, Gwendolyn (Stephan) Smith, Raindrop Wright (David) Cannon, Lita Wright, Soleiange (Matthew) Buxton; sons, Leon Ginn, Zain (Kailliata) Axe, Timothy Ginn; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Mildred Kiyuna

Mildred Masue Kiyuna, 78, of Hilo died Aug. 3, 2015, at the private care home in Hilo. He was born on Kauai.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Moiliili Japanese Cemetery in Honolulu, for a committal service. The family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by brothers, Mark Kiyuna of Hilo, Tom (Rachael) Kiyuna of Torrance, Calif. and Wally Kiyuna of San Diego; sister, Eunice (Norman) Ishii of Mulkiteo, Wash.; two aunts; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lorraine Maynard

Lorraine Maynard, 70, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 15, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 4, 1945, in Schenectady, N.Y., she was a retired high school teacher, a volunteer for Kona Outdoor Circle, a former member of the Kona Outdoor Circle Foundation board of directors and a founding member of The Red Hat Na Wahine Kolohe Chapter.

Service information will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations for the purpose of pet rescues may be sent to Alii Veterinary Hospital, 75-349 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.

She is survived by sister, Marianne Maynard of Kailua-Kona; hanai sister, Betty Meyerson of Kailua-Kona; hanai brother, Lee Meyerson of Kailua-Kona; numerous cousins.

Akiko Hirota, 87, of Hilo died July 27, 2015. Born in Hilo, she retired as a nurse.

Bruce Dato, 60, of Hilo died July 31, 2015. He was born in California.

Bob Sato

Bob Masami Sato, 92, of Hilo died July 31, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Aug. 9, 1922, in Kukuihaele, he was a retired masonry contractor, a World War II Army veteran and member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Niigata Kenjin Kai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Mildred Sato of Hilo; sons, Melvyn Sato, Lesley Sato, both of Hilo; daughter, Lyndee (Brian) Yoneishi of Hilo; sisters, Mildred Sakata, Gladys (Henry) Shimata, both of Honolulu; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ponira Terii Holzgrove, 78, of Keaau died Aug. 10, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Tahiti, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by son, Terii (Nalani) Holzgrove of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Tania (Logan) Miller of Pahoa; brothers, Terii Vehiatua, Levi Vehiatua, Coco Vehiatua, Puru Vehiatua, Pierro Vehiatua and John Vehiatua, all of Tahiti; sisters, Repeta Teariki, Raurea Peu, Paulette Temauri, Mirella Papai and Marita Vehiatua, all of Tahiti; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nicole Judalena, 61, of Hilo died Aug. 1, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 18, 1953, in St. Petersburg, Fla., she was a homemaker.

Marion Kisae Noguchi, 76, of Pahoa died July 21, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Hilo, she was a retired vice president of administration for the Hawaii County Employees Federal Credit Union and member of Honomu Henjoji Mission, Puna Hongwanji Mission, Higashi Machi Kumiai and Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai.

She is survived by husband, Yoshiaki Noguchi of Pahoa; sons, Warren (Pam) Noguchi of Honolulu, Curtis Noguchi of Hilo; sisters, Jane (Raymond) Matsuo of Honolulu, Ellen Morimoto of Washington state; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Tsuneko “Sue” Takemura, 91, of Hilo died July 30, 2015, at a care home in Hilo. Born April 17, 1924, in Hilo, she was retired from the former Hawaiian Equipment Co. and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, Ainako Kumiai, Hilo Oshibanaekai, Shishu Ladies of Hilo.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon (Eugene) Mannacio of Novato, Calif., Mae (Cyrus) Kise of Hilo; sons, Ted Takemura of Redondo Beach, Calif., Stanley Takemura of Hilo; sister, Frances Shimizu of Honolulu; brother, Minoru (Patsy) Takaesu of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Blossom Kelii

Blossom Kolu Kelii, 71, of Hilo died July 12, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 17, 1943, in Hilo, she was a former loan officer for Hawaiian National Bank, the owner of Waimea Washerette, a former real estate agent and member of Haili Congregational Church, Imiola Congregational Church and Hawaiian Women’s Golf Club.

She is survived by sons, Kyle (Iwa) Kelii and Garner (Claire) Kelii, both of Hilo; daughters, Terri (Roger) Meeker of Kapoho, Cherisse (Nick) Agorastos of Hilo; sisters, Emmeline Foster and Lydia Haena, both of Hilo; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tatsumi Oue,

Tatsumi Oue, 92, of Kealakekua died July 18, 2015, at his residence. Born Oct. 9, 1922, in Kealakekua, he was a retired farm manager for K. Oue Ltd. and member of Kanaueue Kumiai and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

He is survived by brother, Francis (Claire) Oue of Keauhou; sister, Patricia Oue of Kealakekua; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ellen Yasuko Tetsuka Shiigi, 87, of Michigan, formerly of Hilo, died May 2, 2015, in Michigan. Born March 2, 1928, in Hilo, she was retired from Hilo Medical Center and a member of Taishoji Soto Mission, Taishoji Fujinkai and Taishoji Baikako.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Jasmine (David) Lincicome of Michigan; son, Blake (Helene) Shiigi of Wailuku, Maui; brother, Grant (Lillian) Tetsuka of Reno, Nev.; sisters, Yuriko Shigeta of Honolulu, Tomie (Teruichi) Kohashi of Hilo; one grandchild.

Leonard Burgess Jr.

Leonard Frank Burgess Jr., 59, of Kealakekua died Aug. 2, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 1, 1956, in Edenton, N.C., he worked as a briefer for Pleasant Holidays.

He is survived by wife, Rosie Cheek of Kealakekua; stepson, Keala (Jeanette) Navas of Waipahu, Oahu,; stepdaughter, Kathy (Carl) Ciriako of Kailua-Kona; mother, Sarah France of Riverbank, Calif.; sisters, Caren Burgess, Kim Gibson, both of Riverbank Calif.; one niece; one nephew; one aunt; five stepgrandchildren; numerous cousins.

Edgar Sullivan

Edgar David Sullivan, 86, of Paauilo died Aug. 15, 2015, at home. Born in Detroit, he was a longtime missionary to Japan and pastored in Hawaii and Arkansas.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 29 at Kaneohe Missionary Baptist Church, 45-131B Waikapoki Road in Kaneohe, Oahu, for an 11 a.m. celebration of life service.

He is survived by wife, Neva Joyce (Nixon) of Paauilo; son, David of Paauilo; daughter, Ruth (Greg) Chandler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mary (Shawn) Souza of Paauilo, Sharon Gonzales of Lihue, Kauai; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
