Hawaii County firefighters responding to the 6:16 a.m. fire on Azure Drive found smoke billowing out of the rafters of the home, with fire in the carport. Heavy fire damage extended through a laundry room, bedroom and rafters of the single-story, 1,250-square-foot home, according to the Fire Department. Smoke damage extended through other areas of the house as well.
No one was home and the time of the blaze, and the power had been turned off. Damage was estimated at $80,000.
