Forecasters on Tuesday continue to monitor an area of disturbed weather south-southeast of the Big Island, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports.
The elongated area of low pressure centered about 900 miles to the south-southeast of Hilo has been nearly stationary during the the past 12 hours. Environmental conditions will support some slow development in this area during the next couple of days. The system has a 50 percent chance of forming into a tropical depression within 48 hours.
Elsewhere in the Central Pacific basin, which is where Hawaii is located, no tropical cyclone formation is expected through Thursday morning.
In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Depression 11-E dissipated late Monday to a remnant low, forecasters said. Further weakening is forecast as the weather system tracks toward the northwest around 16 mph.
Elsewhere in the Eastern Pacific basin, no tropical cyclone activity is forecast during the next five days.
