Park rangers announced Friday the reopening of all areas within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Park rangers announced Friday the reopening of all areas within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

The backcountry areas and summit of Mauna Loa, the remote coastal sites from Apua Point to Kaaha, Hilina Pali Road and Kulanaokuaiki Campground, Mauna Loa Road, and Namakanipaio Campground and A-frame cabins are now open, according to the National Park Service.

The areas were closed earlier this week ahead of the arrival of former tropical cyclone Hilda. Heavy rain is still expected through Saturday, and park visitors are reminded to drive with caution.
