Deborah Goodwin has been selected as the executive director of Kahilu Theatre following an extensive, nationwide search, the Kahilu Theatre Foundation board of directors announced recently.
Goodwin joins Kahilu Theatre’s Artistic Director Tim Bostock and the staff and volunteers as the arts organization launches its 35th season in September.
Goodwin has lived on Hawaii Island for more than 30 years and was raised on Oahu. She has an extensive background in nonprofit management, writing, filmmaking, research, and education. In addition, she has served with a variety of organizations including The Nature Conservancy, Oceanic Institute, Parker School, Humboldt State University, Humboldt Arts Council, and the Morris Graves Museum of Art. She most recently was the director of advancement at the W. M. Keck Observatory.
As Kahilu’s executive director, she will focus on management and the long-term sustainability of the organization. Goodwin will also lead the development of a comprehensive education program for the Theatre that will benefit both youth and adults in our community.
“We are delighted Deborah has agreed to join our team,” said Mimi Kerley, president of the board. “We look forward to a successful future working together to make the Kahilu Theatre the pre-eminent home for arts, culture, and community on Hawaii Island.”
