Auditions for Aloha Performing Arts Company’s upcoming musical production of Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” will be held Aug. 24 and 25 at Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu.

Performances for “The Rocky Horror Show” will run from Oct. 9 through 31. The show will be directed by Miguel Montez and produced by Peter Schonberg.

Auditions will begin at 6 p.m. A possible invitational call back audition may be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 26, if necessary. All performers planning to audition must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the audition. The show contains adult situations and themes. Participants should be comfortable with their bodies and may be asked to perform in close quarters with members of the opposite or same sex. Auditions will be held in small groups on a first-come, first-seen basis and will be closed to all but the performers and audition board. The audition will be conducted in three parts: a vocal audition, a dramatic/comedic reading from the script, and group dance routine.

Those auditioning may either prepare 32 measures (or 60 seconds) from a song of their choosing, or they may sing any of the solos in “Rose Tint My World/Floorshow” from “The Rocky Horror Show.” If singing one’s own selection, please bring sheet music in the proper key for the piano accompanist. No unaccompanied singing or recorded tracks will be allowed. Participants will be asked to read a short selection from the script. Several options will be available for male and female characters. Prospective cast members will also be taught a short dance routine which will be performed in small groups. Clothing and shoes appropriate for dancing and movement are recommended.

Rehearsals begin Aug. 30, and will be held Sunday afternoons from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Individual cast members may not be required to attend every rehearsal, but everyone is expected to be available for all rehearsals and performances.
