Big Island police say a Holualoa man found dead Sunday in a Captain Cook coffee field was murdered.

Dolores Borja Valle, 69, was identified through fingerprints Tuesday morning, according to the Hawaii Police Department. An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined Valle died from sharp and blunt force trauma to the head and that the manner of death was homicide.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section have reclassified the case to murder and are continuing the investigation.

At 7:22 a.m. Sunday, Kona Patrol officers responded to a report of a body lying in a coffee field off Keopuka Mauka Road. The body was officially pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital at 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
