Joseph Brooks

Joseph “Brook” Herman Brooks, 64, of Keauhou died June 24, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 28, 1951, in Selma, Ala., he was an upholsterer.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at Bill Brook’s residence in Holualoa. Call Bill at 938-2136 for information and directions.

He is survived by brother, Bill Brooks of Holualoa; one nephew; one niece.

William Lindsey III

William “Boogie” Miller Seymour Lindsey III, 70, of Waimea died July 28, 2015, at home. Born June 11, 1945, in Kealakekua, he was a retired loss prevention supervisor for Securitas, a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, owner of several business ventures and member of Solid Rock Ministries in Kailua-Kona.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 15 at Imiola Congregational Church, Waimea, for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Lauverne Lindsey; sons, William (Alyson) Lindsey IV, Noakenapookala (Jonnalyn) Kamanawa, Elijah (Kevi Andrade) Lindsey, Danny (Mona) Batino, Laudan (Tony Stroh) Batino, Ellery Batino; daughters, Tioni (Steven) Maeda, Cori (Charles) Pericho, Anna (Alfredo) Lindsey-Robles, Verdean (Guy Nirei) Batino, Lori (Kirk Aoki) Batino; sisters, Vivian Lindsey, Linda (Sam) Wong; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosita Padilla

Rosita “Manang” Padilla, 85, of Hilo died Aug. 4, 2015, at her residence. Born Aug. 12, 1929, in Hilo, she worked for Cafe 100 as a kitchen helper in Hilo and was a foster parent for Hilo Union School and Haili Christian School.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service and celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Jose (Dana) Tabajunda and Rudy (Pat) Tabajunda, both of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Reginald (Aireen) Padilla of California, Glen Padilla of Honolulu; daughters, Carmen (Gerald) Asuncion and Rosaline Gonsalves, both of Hilo, Elena (Tim) Sawyer of Honolulu, Trudy (Steve) Cambra of California; brother, Mariano (Ethel) Carriaga Sr. of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Melvin Saplan

Melvin Saplan, 30, of, Pahala died July 30, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 14, 1985, in Hilo, he was a self-employed maile lei picker and member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 15 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by companion, Tracy Pasion of Pahala; son, Trevin Pasion-Saplan of Naalehu; daughter, Ziarie Fuerte Saplan of Naalehu; mother, Myrle Saplan of Pahala; father, Ben (Andrea) Barrios of Hilo; brothers, Philip (Leslie Arce) Saplan of Pahala, Steven (Riena Aldorasi) Combes of Kona, Randy Barrios of Honokaa, Vince Barrios of Hilo; sister, Zani (Michael) Tablit of Las Vegas; grandmother, Adelina Saplan of Naalehu; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert Weinstock

Robert Brian Weinstock, 52, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 3, 2015. Born July 24, 1963, in Los Angeles, he was a customer service representative and trainer for United Airlines, also worked as office manager and actor for Island Breeze Productions, was a part of the University of the Nations, Team Extreme, a security coordinator for the Ironman Triathlon, participated in the Relay for Life and American Heart Association, and was an Army veteran

A celebration service will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 16 at the University of the Nations Ohana Court in Kailua-Kona. Burial service will be at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert Weinstock Memorial Fund, 74-4295 Leilani St., Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.

He is survived by wife, Lina Weinstock of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Nicole Weinstock, Crystal Weinstock and Luana (Kanoe) Weinstock Yomes, all of Kailua-Kona; brother, Keith (Noriko) Weinstock of Japan; sisters, Sanoe (Llewelyn) Fukui of Kealakekua, Lanuola (John) Tilton of Waimanalo, Oahu, Taimane (Coleman) Kaopua of Kailua-Kona; one granddaughter; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry Pagan

Jerry “JP” Pagan, 55, of Kailua-Kona died June 23, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 26, 1959, in Kaunakakai, Molokai, he was a former waiter and bartender for Jameson’s By The Sea and a waiter for Kona Galley Restaurant.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club located at the Honokohau Marina. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Dinner and entertainment follow. For information, call 937-3958 or 937-3957.
