The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1hvaGUg ) that on 39-year-old Raymond Hodge was killed Wednesday in Keopuolani Park after he was shot about 11 times.
Officials say the man fired at officers with a handgun. Police say nine casings found at the scene were from bullets fired by the man. About 50 shell casings were recovering in all.
Maui Police Department spokesman Lt. William Juan says officers were responding to complaint that a man in the park was claiming to be a law enforcement officer when the suspect became agitated.
Juan says the man pulled out a handgun and shot in the direction of the officers, who returned fire.
