HONOLULU (AP) — The Coast Guard has saved three passengers and a dog from a sunken catamaran off Oahu’s North Shore.

KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1hsThM6 ) that an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew flew about 41 miles northeast of the shore to retrieve three people and their dog from a lafe raft Sunday afternoon.

The master of the 70-foot catamaran reported they were rapidly taking on water before eventually abandoning the vessel. All three people were wearing life jackets.

The weather on the scene was seas up to 4 feet with winds of 18 mph, gusting to 23 mph.

The catamaran is partially submerged and mariners in the area are advised to keep a lookout to avoid collision.
