The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of August is watercolor painter Felicia Fry.
Fry moved to Kona with her husband in 1984. She gradated from Ontario College of Art, Canada’s top art school. She has had an extensive career in advertising graphics mainly in Los Angeles and San Diego. She has taken many courses, one of them at the Instituto de arte, at San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, and workshops to further her career in fine art.
Before coming to Hawaii, she studied under Robert Perine, a well-known watercolorist and author. Fry was a member of Kailua Village Artists Gallery for more than 27 years.
Fry has been painting with the West Hawaii Plein Air Painters for the past three years, enjoying the challenge of painting outdoors and revisiting the beaches and many of the scenic areas of the Big Island. She is known for her paintings of the Kona Coast and its beautiful beaches.
The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery will host a featured artist reception for Fry from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at the gallery in the Kona International Market in Kailua-Kona.
