Mabel Andrade
Mabel Puaala Makekau Andrade, 66 of Hilo. Born in Hana, Maui, she was a descendent from the royal blood of Kahekilinuiahumanu II, warrior king of Maui, blood father of King Kamehameha the Great.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 at Dodo Mortuary. Burial at sea follows. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Benedict “Benny Boy” Raquel, 55, of Hilo died July 19, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 8, 1959, in Honokaa, he was a factory worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. in Keaau.

Janet Kamoehau Keanu, 82, of West Jordan, Utah, and formerly of Naalehu died July 25, 2015, at the Copper Ridge Care Center. Born June 25, 1933, in Waiohinu, she was a custodian for and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka‘u Ward in Naalehu.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka‘u Ward in Naalehu for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Naalehu County Cemetery. Family requests casual dress be worn.

Charles Loy “CK” Kama, 82, of Hilo died July 21, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver/dispatcher with the former Hilo Transportation and Terminal, member of the Hawaiian Bowling Club, BIIF Football Official Association and HT&T Softball Team and a Pop Warner Football referee.

Waichi Ouye
Waichi Ouye, 101, of Hakalau died July 9, 2015, at home. Born in Umauma, he worked for C. Brewer &Co. at the former Hakalau Sugar Plantation, former Pepeekeo Sugar Co. and the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., was active for many years with the Honomu Hongwanji, the Boy Scouts and the Big Island Beekeeping Association, was a presidential appointee to the Hawaii Federal Farm Bureau and volunteered at the Kamana Senior Center and the Hilo County Information Services.

He is survived by sons, Neal (KG) Ouye of Berkeley, Calif., Donn (Lori) Ouye of Hilo; daughters, Eva (Randy) Chun of Renton, Wash., Elin (Dennis Sherman) Ouye of San Francisco; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Valamaria “Val” Penny Lehuanani Lewi, 56, of Kailua-Kona died June 5, 2015, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born May 6, 1959, in Kealakekua, she was a caregiver, a former waitress for King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, a room attendant for Kona Hilton Resort and Kona Lagoon Hotel and a cook for KTA in Kailua-Kona and Maxwell Landing.

Charles “Chuck” Leigh Douglas Jr., 84, of Honaunau died July 31, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 2, 1930 in Danville, Ill., he was a retired senior research scientist for the National Park Services in Nevada and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by wife, Karen Douglas of Honaunau; sons, Ian (Debbie) Douglas of Nevada, Chad (Linda) Douglas of Georgia; brother, John (Jody) Douglas of Virginia; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lei Adachi Tsuji, 89, of Hilo died July 17, 2015, at her residence. Born Feb, 3, 1926, in Kealakekua, she was a retired secretary for the Department of Water Supply, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hawaii County R.S.V.P., former volunteer at the Hilo Medical Center and other organizations.

Margaret Jean Arcaina, 63, of Pahoa died July 27, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 15, 1952, in Allegan, Mich., she was a special education teacher at Pahoa High School.

Richard Stanley Dawe, 88, of Kailua-Kona, and formerly of Maui, died July 26, 2015. Born May 25, 1927, in Bournemouth, England, he was a retired laser ranging operator for the University of Hawaii, Institute for Astronomy on Haleakala.

Born Nov. 8, 1942, in Wahiawa, Oahu, she was a retired school teacher who taught at Kohala High School, Pahoa Elementary and High School and Mountain View Elementary and Intermediate School, a registrar at Keaau Intermediate School and member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission.

Hector Mercado Gonzalez, 60, of Hilo died July 21, 2015, at his residence in Hilo. He was born Sept. 24, 1954, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he was employed as a floral designer at Floral Mart in Hilo.
