The body found on Saddle Road has been identified.
The corpse was recovered on June 16. Officers responded to a report of an unattended truck near mile marker 15 of Saddle Road, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
There they found a body in an “advanced state of decomposition,” police said.
This month the body was identified as Joshua M. Kahele, 32, who had no permanent address.
The autopsy said he died of asphyxia caused by hanging. Foul play is not suspected, police said.
Police said the truck and body were parked down a gravel road and were not visible from Saddle Road.
The search was delayed as Kahele was never reported missing, police said.
The truck and Kahele remained there for some time before a person picking flowers found the truck. They did not see the body, which was some distance away and not visible from the truck, police said.
