A preliminary hearing has been postponed for the suspect in an early Monday morning double stabbing in a Hilo park.

A preliminary hearing has been postponed for the suspect in an early Monday morning double stabbing in a Hilo park.

Hilo District Judge Barbara Takase on Wednesday granted a continuation until 2 p.m. Aug. 3 for 32-year-old David Lester Bars. Bars, who is homeless, faces attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault charges for the alleged knife attack on a married couple at Wailoa State Recreational Area.

The request was made by Stanton Oshiro, Bars’ court-appointed attorney, who told the judge he had not been provided with police reports nor a video of a police interview with one of the victims, 24-year-old Anastasha Nau-Fikes of Pahoa.

Nau-Fikes, who was treated and released for her injury — a stab wound to the lower right leg — was in the courtroom. Also present was her husband, 27-year-old Myreon Nau-Fikes, who originally was hospitalized in serious condition with a stab wound to the throat, but has since been released from the hospital.

Bars remains in custody at Hawaii Community Correctional Center in lieu of $260,000 bail.

Anastasha Nau-Fikes also was arrested Monday morning for allegedly violating her probation on 2014 convictions for burglary, second-degree assault and bail jumping.

She appeared Monday before Hilo Circuit Judge Greg Nakamura, who granted defense requests to delay proceedings on the state’s motion to revoke her probation until 8 a.m. Aug. 24 because of the alleged attack, according to court records.

Nakamura also granted Anastasha Nau-Fikes’ request for supervised release, but scheduled a hearing on her release status for 8 a.m. Aug. 12.
