Some $25,000 worth of equipment was reportedly taken during a burglary Monday morning at The Nature Conservancy’s Kaiholena Preserve in Ka’u.
Among the items stolen were a 2009 Honda “Big Red” all-terrain vehicle, a green all-terrain vehicle 500, a 2009 Troy flatbed trailer, a compressor, a rifle, a gun, gun safe, and tools. The alleged thieves were seen driving a black Toyota pickup truck, which was described as being between model year 1996 and 2000, that was headed through macadamia orchards toward Pahala, the agency said.
Anyone with information about the location of the items or the identity of those responsible should call police in Ka’u at 939-2520 or the Hawaii Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
