Katherine Opunui
Katherine Mary Paiva Opunui, 86, of Waikoloa died June 9, 2015, in Honokaa. Born Feb. 15, 1929, in Ahualoa she retired from Liberty House.
Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. July 1 for a graveside prayer service at Punchbowl on Oahu with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Animal Rescue or Hawaii Humane Society.
She is survived by daughters, Toni Brucker, Lani Opunui; one grandson; one great-grandson; sisters, Minnie Reis, Lorraine (John) Steinbacher; brother, Albert (Vera) Paiva.
Carl Ciriako Sr.
Carl “Kale” Keola Ciriako, Sr., 66, of Kealakekua died June 19, 2015, at home. Born March 7, 1949, in Kelakekua, he was a registrar and teacher at Konawaena High School, a roof truss fabricator at HPM, an Army Vietnam War veteran, recipient of the Bronze Star medal and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Stake Center for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Faith Ciriako of Kealakekua; sons, Chad (Erin) Basque of Kealakekua, Carl (Kathy) Ciriaki Jr. of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Carla-Mae Bailey of Haiku, Maui, Marleen (Leko) Mareko of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Raymond (Ramona) Ciriaco of Captain Cook, Kenneth (Gloria) Ciriako of Kealakekua; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald G. Waugh, 72, of Hilo died June 15, 2015, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born June 12, 1943, in Ashland, Ky., he was a retired construction maintenance supervisor and a Navy and Army veteran.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 2 at Crossnet Ministries, 21 Kalanianaole Ave. in Hilo for Navy military honors at 6:30 p.m. A service and celebration of life will be held at 7. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers and lei are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Arlene Waugh of Hilo; sons, Timothy Waugh of Hilo, Mark (Brandie Leong) Waugh of Kailua, Oahu, Terence (Cindy) Waugh of Las Vegas, Matthew (Kristine) Waugh of Pepeekeo; daughters, Melissa Montibon, Melanie (Kahale) Huddleston, both of Hilo; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kishiko Tomihiro, 99, of Laguna Hills, Calif., and formerly of Kukuihaele died May 16, 2015, in Laguna Hills, Calif. Born April 27, 1916, in Kohala, she was a homemaker.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. July 3 at Honokaa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple for a 3 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by son, Walter (Corrine) Tomihiro of Columbus, S.C.; daughters, Lillian (Stan) Yuki of Garden Grove, Calif., Carol Odom of Torrance, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
