Marjorie Toma
Marjorie Mai Toma, 84, of Kurtistown died June 7, 2015, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Kurtistown, she was a retired licensed practical nurse with St. Francis Hospital on Oahu and later with the Hilo Hospital on Hawaii.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughters, Teresa (Jim) Kilburn of Mesa, Ariz., Althea Brooks of Kurtistown; brothers, Godwin (Veronica) Nishikawa of Kurtistown, George (Alma) Mai of Oahu; sister, Mary Alana Warren of Kurtistown; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Hiroshi Akamine
Hiroshi Akamine, 99, of Hilo died June 4, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 26, 1916, in Hilo, he was the co-owner of the former Hilo Food Town Supermarket, member of the Hilo Meishoin Buddhist Temple, Hui Okinawa, Hilo Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Hilo Lions Club, Downtown Improvement Association and the Hilo Florists and Shipping Association.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. June 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers or monetary gifts.
He is survived by wife, Hatsue Akamine of Hilo; sons, George (Joyce) Akamine, Maurice (Mal Pun Choi) Akamine, Lloyd (Judith) Akamine, all of Hilo; daughter, June (George S.) Jennifer “Jen” Tameko Takaki, 29, of Honolulu died May 27, 2015, at the Pali Momi Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was the operations manager for PSAV Event Technology Specialists and a member of New Hope Hilo.

Cresenciano Ramos Clarin, 86, of Hilo died June 9, 2015, at home. Born Nov. 24, 1928, in Puunene, Wailuku, Maui, he was a retired crane operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Hajime “Jimmy” Uyeki, 90, of Hilo died June 17, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 17, 1925, in Kapoho, he was a retired battalion chief for Hawaii County Fire Department, instructor for Hilo Aikido Club and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, and Kamana Senior Karaoke Club.
