Police seek information in February burglary in Hilo

A safe containing 12 rifles, three handguns, jewelry and a large amount of cash was reportedly taken from a home during a February burglary in Hilo.

A safe containing 12 rifles, three handguns, jewelry and a large amount of cash was reportedly taken from a home during a February burglary in Hilo.

The Hawaii Police Department is now asking the public to come forward with any information about the burglary that occurred in the Sunrise Ridge subdivision in Hilo. Police said the responded the afternoon of Feb. 2 to a home on Hookina Place to learn that the safe containing rifles, handguns, miscellaneous jewelry and a large amount of cash has been removed from the home. The value of the items was estimated at $22,500.

Anyone with any information about this incident or anyone who may know the identity of the suspect should call the departments nonemergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Dean Uyetake at 961-2379 or dean.uyetake@hawaiicounty.gov.
