WAIPAHU, Hawaii (AP) — Firefighters have contained a west Oahu brush fire that burned more than 200 acres and prompted people to flee from their homes.

WAIPAHU, Hawaii (AP) — Firefighters have contained a west Oahu brush fire that burned more than 200 acres and prompted people to flee from their homes.

The fire was reported Monday evening near the Royal Kunia Country Club.

The fire department says there were no injuries reported and no damage to any homes.

Kunia resident Don Wisniewski tells Honolulu news station Hawaii News Now (https://ow.ly/O5RoQ ) flames got to within 10 feet of one his neighbors’ homes.

Honolulu station KHON-TV (https://ow.ly/O5Rvw ) reports smoke could be seen from miles away.

Honolulu station KITV (https://ow.ly/O5RxQ ) reports the fire was contained by about 9 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
