Friends of the Libraries, Kona has announced its 2015 Masters of Library and Information Science Scholarship recipients. Robert Steven Dahlke and Jennifer Kaui Losalio are each awarded $2,000 to continue their library and information science studies through the University of Hawaii at Manoa distance learning program. These scholarships are offered to assist the recipients in completing their master’s degrees in library and information science at UH-Manoa.
Dahlke is an English and computer science teacher at Kealakehe High School. He holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in theater arts at Texas Tech University and a bachelor of arts degree in English literature at the University of Central Florida. Before joining the Kealakehe High School staff, he taught English at Saganspeak at Tokyo.
Losalio is a library technician at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in linguistics from UH-Hilo. Before joining the Kailua-Kona Public Library on a temporary assignment, she worked at Kealakekua Public Library, Pahala Public and School Library and Naalehu Public Library.
An affiliate of Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Friends of the Libraries, Kona has been enhancing the services and facilities of Kona public libraries and enriching the lives of Kona residents since 1988. This is the fourth year of the scholarship award program.
