Hapuna Rough Water Swim
The Hapuna Rough Water Swim — presented by Bikeworks Beach & Sport and Academy Masters Swim Team — will be June 13 at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.
The race will have a keiki 400-meter swim at 8:15 a.m. and a 1-mile swim to follow. Registration is now open at FLPregister.com/148. There will only be online registration.
No shirts available for athletes registering after May 31.

Konawaena Foundation Golf Tournament
The 10th annual Konawaena Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 13 at the Makalei Country Club.
Registration at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Format is two-person scramble, with each person hitting at least six tee shots. Total handicap per two-person team is 48 (calculated by averaging the partner’s handicaps and taking 80 percent of that total as recommended by the U.S.G.A). Two “Mulligans” per person are available for $5 each.
Big Island Honda is sponsoring a cash prize of $500 for Closest To The Pin Award on a designated Par 3, guaranteed to have a winner. Other prizes include free resort accommodations, rounds of golf, oceanfront brunches, and more. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, June 4, 2015 to the
Proceeds benefit the Konawaena Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization in support of higher education programs at Konawaena High School.

Nobu Yamauchi MLB/RBI Travel Team
The Nobu Yamauchi MLB/RBI 16 to 18 year travel team have available spots left on its team that will be traveling to California in July this summer. The team will be playing in San Jose, California on July 11 and 12 at the Hardtke Woodbat Tournament. On July 17 to the 19, the team will be participating in the RBI Western Regional in Los Angeles, California.

Konawaena Stingrays Basketball Camp
The Konawaena Stingrays Basketball Camp will be held June 8-11 at Konawaena High School’s Onizuka Gymnasium.
Ages 5-11 will play from 9 a.m. to noon; ages 12-16 will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $80 and participants are asked to register by May 25.

Tennis camp at Hilton Waikoloa
Pa Le’a Le’a Tennis at the Hilton Waikoloa is offering a junior tennis/sports camp in two week intervals for the months of June and July.
The camps will be held on the Hilton’s newly resurfaced six-court tennis facility.
Camps will run all day, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm.

Hilo Triathlon registration
Early registration is open for the 2nd Annual Hilo Triathlon.
Returning to James Kealoha Beach Park on July 12, the Olympic-distance race is limited to 500 participants.
Now through April 30 the entry fee is only $200 for individuals and $100 for relay team members. Registration closes midnight on July 2.

Athletes from as far away as Australia participated in last year’s inaugural event, which again features a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride, and a 10km run.
Horseshoe club free play
The Kona Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club offers free, informal play from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays at Kona Palms Courts. Pitchers of all levels are welcome.

Melissa and Jason Braswell — owners of Big Island Running Company in Kona and Hilo — shares stories about the many new and seasoned runners that enjoy the social aspect of their complimentary running programs in Kailua-Village. Anyone can participate on Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 6:30 a.m. The programs include a Couch to 5K and a Tuesday Trot in partnership with the Kailua Village Improvement District from Big Island Running Company through Kailua Village to Makeao Community Park and back for walkers and runners.
