The custom-made 500 gallon diesel fuel tank was on a double-axle trailer on Old Mamalahoa Highway near the Honomu transfer station and had a red Honda fuel pump, according to the Hawaii Police Department. It was rusted silver with a pump and nozzle toward the back and had diamond-shaped placards with “1993” on the front and side.
Police are asking anyone with any information about the theft or the location of the tanker to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311. Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
