On Oct. 18, a 42-inch Hisense brand flat-screen television was removed from a gym on Shipman Street in Hilo. On Thursday, South Hilo Patrol officers arrested 20-year-old Kaipo Anakalea Kahakai of Hilo for contempt of court and for an unrelated burglary on Monday on Ponahawai Street in Hilo, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock, where detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section also linked him to the gym burglary, according to police.
Kahakai was charged with contempt of court, two counts of burglary, three counts of theft and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle. His bail was set at $7,050.
He remained at the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Friday.
