Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s lower school held its annual May Day celebration on May 1 at the school’s Gates Performing Arts Center. This year’s program, “Malama Honua: To Take Care of Our Foundations,” honored the worldwide voyage of Hokulea and recognized “our reverence for the world we live in.”
The school also recognized Headmaster Lindsay Barnes, who is retiring in June. Members of the fifth-grade class represented Na Alii o Hawaii, and special guests included students from kumu Malani DeAguiar’s upper school Hawaiian Language Honors IV class, who performed with the second-graders.
