The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery welcomes wood-working team Parker and Debbie Nicholson, featuring their wood bowls.
The Nicholsons live and work in Keaau, and all their wood creations are made with wood found in Hawaii, including koa, milo, kamani, mango, mulang and Sugi pine. Parker has been turning bowls, building furniture and restoring houses for more than 35 years. Debbie has been a wood turner since 2002.
Parker’s passion with wood has led him to creating larger pieces: limb junction, oval bowls, platters and natural edged vessels. Debbie is drawn to smaller bowls, colorfully dyeing bowls and creating waterproof bud vases and jewelry.
Before moving to Hawaii, the team participated in juried art festivals in the Midwest region of the United States. They also show their work in several galleries around the Big Island and online at 5-0woods.com.
The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery is located at the Kona International Market at 74-5533 Luhia St. in Kailua-Kona. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, call 329-8000.
