Mop-up efforts continued Wednesday to extinguish a brush fire that broke out Monday and burned more than 200 acres near Punaluu.
The fire, which broke out shortly before noon Monday, burned more than 220 acres near Ninole Loop in Ka’u, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department said. The burn area is located on both sides of Highway 11.
No homes or property were damaged by the fire and no evacuation was ordered. However, one residence on Alahaki Road did evacuate voluntarily. No injuries were reported.
