Kenoi should go
Kenoi should go
After reading the letter by Kenoi’s apologist, Lei Kihoi, I can’t help but feel that, yes, Kenoi should go. Yes, he did make a commitment to the island to fulfill his duties until 2016 and it would be costly to oust him. But, he looked mighty spiffy on his Ironman bike.
I thought the rules for the card were already in place to prevent abuses by the holders of those cards. And, yes, his honor has done some great things during his tenure. However; in the meantime, he has abused our trust. And it didn’t just happen recently. A politician is only good until he gets caught. Hostess bar anyone? Suddenly all his good deeds are for naught.
He paid his lawyer dues or would that be another bar tab with my money?
Please reread the “Good Character and Fitness” under rule 1 (c) of the Hawaii Supreme Court, Admission to the Bar, that you cite, it just doesn’t say which bar.
Hats off to the paper for pursuing this issue.

Honolulu VA fails the veterans
I recently sent a letter to Wayne Pfeffer, director of the Honolulu Veterans Affairs after attending the Town Hall Meeting on March 4. His response was “sorry” that they are over loaded and there is a 2 1/2 week delay between the requests. In the letter, I stated my frustration of time lapsed for authorization for continuation of my physical therapy. It’s been now eight weeks and still no authorized physical therapy. Dr. Nelson of the Kona VA office authorized continued physical therapy as well as my orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Myers. Dr. Myers requested my physical therapy eight weeks ago. I have contacted the Kona VA office on several ocassions and they have also tried to speak with someone from the Honolulu branch regarding this to no avail.
I feel that the Kona branch of the VA should be able to authorize treatment instead of waiting months to get any results. I am not the only veteran complaining about the delays. All the problems started about eight months ago when the VA insurance switched over to TriWest. When I was on active duty during Vietnam my commanding officers did not have to wait months before performing my duties.
